The future of clean Merino wool has officially arrived with the  creation of a Merino wool business suit that can be washed in the  shower in the evening and is ready to wear again the following morning  - with no ironing needed.

Introducing the Shower Clean Suit, the world’s first wool non-iron  suit, that can be rinsed under a normal shower stream to remove the  dirt, stains and smells of the day.

A joint product development between Australian Wool Innovation  (AWI), The Woolmark Company (TWC) and pioneering suit retailer Konaka  & Co., Ltd., Shower Clean Suits are available at Konaka Group  stores in Japan from February for the spring summer 2008 season.

AWI, TWC and Konaka are also jointly responsible for the development  of the Rain Suit which powerfully repels water and oil, the Air-Fit  Suit which is light, warm and comfortable, and the Super Non-Wrinkle  Suit. These products have earned an exceptional reputation for  satisfying the needs of businesspeople.

Shower Clean Suits are futuristic in their remarkable capacity to  allow dirt to be rinsed off in a warm shower without using detergent.  Hung to dry, the suit can be worn again without ironing and yet it  retains the original wool texture and the suit's original quality and  shape.

The Shower Clean Suit is a bold environmental innovation that eliminates the need for costly and harmful chemical dry cleaning.

The brilliance of the Shower Clean Suit fabric design means the  day’s dirt can simply be washed off. Smog, dirt, smoke, smells and  stains from food and drink are simply rinsed off after a few minutes  under a 40 degree shower.

The suits have a hollow fabric structure that allows air to pass  through easily and use a blend of fabrics rich in wool: one made of  pure wool and the other containing wool and polyester at the ratio of  83% to 17%.

Water repellent is added to the suits and machine washable  interlinings, while eco-super 3D processing is used to maintain shape.  The final finish uses the natural amino acid L-cysteine – a type of  amino acid contained in hair, nails and skin - to maintain the Shower  Clean Suit’s clean shape.

The suits were designed by Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto and  British designer John Pearse and are marketed under the brand names  KANSAINAN Collection and JOHN PEARSE.
