Throughout our daily lives we come into contact with unpleasant odours. Often we notice our clothing absorbs these smells and they remain until laundering.Anti-odour Merino has been created in response to the demand of today’s consumers. Through the application of an innovative technology, Australian Merino wool knitted garments can provide a long-lasting anti-odour quality.

The technology

An innovative technology based on cyclodextrin has been created.  The cyclodextrin molecules act like a sponge, absorbing and wrapping up bad odours. Upon laundering the odours are then released into the wash and the anti-odour Merino finish is like new.

This treatment can be applied to circular knitted Australian Merino wool fabrics by padding, and in the case of application to yarns or garments (flat knit) it is applied by exhaust or in co-application with an Easy Care resin.

The chemicals utilised are extremely safe for the wearer, they are biodegradable and are based on natural sugar.

Production applications

This treatment is suitable for all Merino knitted products which may come into contact with bad smells and odours including outerwear, and in the case of sweat, next to skin products such as base layers, underwear, loungewear and socks.
