Mr Jimmy Jackson, Global Product Development Manager for Australian Wool Innovation commented. “Spin Expo continues to expand every year and this September the calibre of exhibitors and the premium quality of the presentations attracted a great number of key global industry personnel throughout the entire supply chain, from early stage processors to retailers and brands.”

It is important that AWI continues to build upon our presence within the Chinese domestic and global market place and build business relationships through trade fairs such as Spin Expo, and to re-build the image of Australian Merino as a premium apparel fibre” said Mr Jackson.

AWI’s presence was strong at the trade fair this year, and the assistance was greatly accepted by spinners, knitters, and retailers alike.

  • Over 26 Merino knitted products on display by AWI
  • Approximately 400 people visited the AWI stand every day
  • Seminars presented by AWI on product innovations, colour trends , and consumer insights
  • Each day Giovanni Cavagna presented a Merino wool catwalk display with the assistance of Spin Expo and AWI – the catwalk shows always had people in attendance and served to show the true versatility of the natural fibre for all applications

Via Spin Expo AWI was able to assist businesses throughout the product supply chain with knowledge, innovations and marketing advice to assist their businesses in growth and development.

Following Spin Expo AWI will roll out a number of individual workshops with retailers and brands interested in furthering their business through the use of Australian Merino wool. These will take place in key consumer markets such as the USA, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong and China.

The Australian Merino fibre is in demand – it offers all the characteristics of a luxury fibre including softness, durability, excellent handle and drape; all the while being produced in a natural and sustainable manner.
