Dalang Fair

Comfort benefits of Australian Merino

October 18 – 22 saw Dalan, in the Dongguan Province of China, throw back the doors to its woollen knitwear industry.

Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) was pleased to take part in Dalang Fair for October 2007, showcasing the latest in Australian Meirno wool knitwear developments and hosting seminars on product innovations and consumer research to assist apparel companies furthering their business via the use of Australian Merino wool.

The Government of Dalang began hosting Dalang Fair, a large scale woollen knitwear expo, in 2001. The annual event has now become a famous trading platform in the industry for woollen knitwear, knitting machinery, computer design systems, yarn and fibre and woollen knitwear accessories.

Closely following Dalang Fair, the Australian Wool Innovation office in India was pleased to host a seminar on October 24.

The seminar, held at the Intercontinental Grand between 7 – 10pm, featured over twenty product developments, both knit and woven, highlighting the true versatility and durability of the Australian Merino wool fibre.

The India seminar attracted over 200 guests including businesses throughout the apparel pipeline, media, and guest of honor Mr David Holly, the Australian Deputy High Commissioner in India.

Mr Holly formally thanked the guests for attending and spoke about the importance of the trade between Australia and India, and the growth of the Indian textile and apparel industry.

The seminar presented Indian business with a unique opportunity to source knowledge, innovations, and discuss marketing opportunities for their Australian Merino wool products.

Both events presented an opportunity for AWI to meet with domestic brands, garment manufacturers, spinners and knitters to showcase the latest collection of Merino wool knitwear recently launched at Spin expo yarn trade fair in Shanghai.
