The Australian Wool Textiles Training Centre (AWTTC) is pleased to offer a course selection in 2007.

The AWTTC educational courses run with the support of Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), the Australian Wool Education trust, and the International Fibre Committee (IFC).

Participants are able to select from courses that teach the latest wool processing technologies; new management and information technology; how wool markets operate around the world and how they service the ever changing global apparel market at AWTTC.

Newcomers to the industry will also benefit from courses such as ‘introduction to the Australian wool industry’.
The range of courses cater for the most skilled wool buyer through to designers and retailers interested in learning about working with Australian wool.

The courses are designed for professionals, to take their skills and knowledge to new levels of excellence. Comprehensive and casual, participants can select to take one or more of the six courses available:

  1. Introduction to the Australian wool industry
  2. Buying and consignment preparation of Australian wool
  3. Wool top-making and early stage processing
  4. Contemporary wool dying and finishing
  5. Innovations in wool textile technology
  6. Australian wool – knowledge for designers and retailers

The courses are conducted by skilled professional trainers, guest speakers are also introduced in some courses to discuss their experience and pass on their intimate knowledge in relation to the course subject.

  1. Introduction to the Australian Wool Industry

  2. The route wool travels to the consumer is unique and involves a myriad of transformations in the hands of professionals with specialist knowledge. This course gives a comprehensive overview of the wool value chain and its key issues.

  3. Buying and Consignment Preparation of Australian Wool

  4. Control over raw material inputs is imperative for the continued success of an early stage processor and/or wool textile company. Specifications that truly reflect a company's product requirements provide genuine competitive advantage.

  5. Wool Top-making & Early Stage Processing

  6. This course will provide an overview of the steps required to purchase and assemble wool in preparation for processing, including the use of specifications and prediction.

  7. Contemporary Wool Dyeing and Finishing

  8. The dyeing and finishing of wool can be challenging to the unskilled. Leading mills apply systematic and scientific approaches that enhance wool's natural qualities.
